Dr Ian Martin
MB BS (QLD) FRACS
Dr Ian Martin is a Hepatopancreatobiliary and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon based in Brisbane who has built up a busy practice over the past two decades. Dr Martin treats patients with a range of conditions, including obesity, hernia, reflux, and gallstones and specialises in bariatric, laparoscopic and robotic surgery techniques. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland and in 1995.
Dr Martin has published many articles in his area of interest and is actively involved in ongoing research and publications. He trains surgeons and registrars at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and performs regular live surgical tuition to Australian and New Zealand surgeons in the field of laparoscopic surgery.
His results are recorded on the national Bariatric Surgery Registry (BSR). Dr Martin has achieved a surgeon of Excellence Award for his work as a Bariatric Surgeon at the Wesley Hospital. Dr Martin also runs regular laparoscopic bariatric masterclasses for surgeons from Australia and New Zealand.
